Hey there!
I’m Mike Gore. Thanks for stopping by my humble internet home. Currently, I’m living in Washington D.C., and working as an intern.
I’m a student at Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Washington. Before college, I worked in Seattle at a small start up called nuun. We made and sold sports drinks, and, as a teenager, I was thrown into the role of coordinating the athletes and teams who represented the brand. “Trial by fire” would be a good way of describing my time there.
As I started college, I found that my dreams of becoming a marketing whiz were quickly replaced with a love for writing on deadline. The thrill of writing a story under pressure was almost as fulfilling as a tough mountain bike race, and I found a home in Western’s journalism department.
One summer, I had an opportunity that changed the way I thought about journalism. I landed an internship at The Stranger, Seattle’s rabble-rousing alt weekly. The editors and staff writers there were aggressive, smart, and talented. Their approach to reporting local and national news with a voice left me eager to work in the rapidly transforming world of online media.
We’ll see what’s next – I’ve been lucky to have great mentors, and time will tell what the future holds.
